Umeka Wright is a Licensed Professional Counselor, educator, and mental health advocate, as well as the Founder of Making It Wright Counseling & Consulting, a Dallas–Fort Worth–based practice dedicated to supporting high-achieving performers.
She works with athletes, students, professionals, and leaders who are navigating the pressures that come with performing at a high level. Her work focuses on strengthening mental health, building resilience, and helping individuals maintain a healthy sense of identity beyond performance.
With a unique perspective shaped by her experience as a former athlete and the mother of six children who have competed in sports from junior college to Division I, Umeka understands both the visible success and the unseen challenges that come with high-performance environments. She recognizes the pressure, expectations, and emotional demands that often go unspoken, and she creates space for those experiences to be addressed in a meaningful and productive way.
In addition to her private practice, Umeka serves as the Director of Student and Employee Wellness for a local school district, where she leads and implements wellness initiatives that impact students, staff, and the broader community. She is also a sought-after speaker and facilitator, partnering with schools, churches, conferences, and athletic organizations to deliver impactful conversations on mental health, performance anxiety, stress management, and resilience.
Through Making It Wright Counseling & Consulting, Umeka is committed to ensuring that mental health is prioritized alongside physical performance and academic success. She provides a supportive, professional environment where individuals can develop the tools needed to perform, lead, and live well—without compromising their well-being.
